Royal Enfield is one of the world’s top-selling bikes. They are mainly known for their looks, power, and safety features. The company never compromised in quality. That’s why, they recalled bikes manufactured between November 2022 and March 2023 after finding a safety issue.
During a routine test, the company discovered problems with the side-view mirrors. The performance of the mirrors was less, and they did not meet reflective performance requirements. As soon as they identified the problem, the company recalled all the bikes of that batch.
Royal Enfield announced a free replacement of the side mirrors to the affected motorbikes worldwide. They will do the work in some phases. The replacement will start from South Korea, expanding to other countries like Brazil, America, India, the UK, and so on.
to have the mirror replaced, a user will need to take the bike to the dealership. Each country’s dealerships will announce the dates of the replacements. It will take 15-20 minutes to complete the task, and totally free of cost.
The company stated, “While the issue has been reported only in a very small sample size, Royal Enfield has decided to proactively replace reflectors on all motorcycles manufactured between the said time period”
Issues with the side mirror come with many safety concerns. According to research published in the “International Journal of Scientific Study” in February 2022, 88% of riders don’t see vehicles approaching at 3 feet without a proper mirror.
This is not the first time Royal Enfield is recalling customers. In 2023, the recalled 4,891 units of Royal Enfield Himalayan. Some of the bikes’ braking system decreased, and some suffered from a total loss of braking function. In 2020, they recalled 15,000 units of the Royal Enfield 650.
In 2022, Yamaha recalled a MT-09 batch of 2021-22 with improperly programmed ECU. About 3,600 units were affected. So, the company announced a free ECU reprogramming for the affected units to ensure the safety of the consumers.
